This time we are looking forward to a unique collaboration with the French clarinet ensemble

Souffle d’ébène

WHAT AWAITS YOU:

Main content of the workshop:

  • Playing in a Large Clarinet Orchestra
    • next to French clarinetists from the Souffle d’ébène ensemble
  • Fun repertoire – classical and film music

Other activities:

  • Exhibition of sheet music and clarinet accessories
  • Film screening – Friday, May 30 in the evening

WHO IS THE WORKSHOP FOR:

  • For all enthusiastic clarinetists at an advanced level
  • Welcome are both ZUŠ and conservatory students, as well as graduates and adult enthusiasts
  • For ZUŠ teachers (and similar institutions)
  • Maximum number of participants: 20 students
    • Clarinet: 17 spots
    • Bass clarinet: 3 spots
    • ZUŠ teachers: no limit

Registrations are already closed.

CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION:

  • Good sense of rhythm and various key signatures
  • Ability to tune your own instrument
  • Playing with a key for circular breathing
  • At least basic experience with playing in an ensemble/orchestra with a conductor 
  • Independence, communication via WhatsApp
  • Basic knowledge of English

The price includes:

  • All main and accompanying program of the workshop

REGISTRATION AND ACCESS TO SHEET MUSIC:

  • After filling out APPLICATIONS you will receive a confirmation of application acceptance and payment details for the participation fee to the provided email
  • Next, you will receive sheet materials and practice recordings
  • Application deadline: until capacity is reached
  • We recommend registering on time – the earlier you register, the sooner you will have access to sheet materials and practice recordings, and you will have more time to prepare

Workshop instructors:

Zuzana Čajková

Zuzana Čajková studied clarinet at the Conservatory in Teplice and furthered her education at international clarinet courses in Ostrava and South Bohemia.

Since 2008, she has been the lead of the clarinet group of the North Bohemian Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Ústí nad Labem and has been a member of the North Bohemian Philharmonic in Teplice since 2016. She is also a regular guest of other Czech orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Prague, the Chamber Opera Prague, the orchestra of the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, and others.

She has been teaching clarinet at ZUŠ Chabařovice since 2010.

Jaroslav Škuta

Jaroslav Škuta was born in 1990 in Mělník, where he began playing the clarinet at the local ZUŠ at age 11. He studied clarinet at the Conservatory in Teplice, the Faculty of Arts of the Ostrava University, and Kent State University (Ohio, US), where he also served as a Teaching Assistant from 2019-2020.

From 2013 to 2018, he was a clarinetist with the North Bohemian Theatre of Opera and Ballet. He is a regular guest with Czech orchestras such as the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague, the F. X. Šalda Theatre Orchestra in Liberec, and others.

As a performer, he also focuses on chamber music and contemporary music, regularly appearing at festivals like Třídenní, Hudba v Souvislostech, and others.

Since 2021, he has been teaching clarinet at ZUŠ Praha 6, Nad Alejí 28. In his teaching, he emphasizes chamber and ensemble playing – he leads the Large Clarinet Ensemble at ZUŠ Nad Alejí.

He is also involved in arranging and composing pieces for beginner clarinetists and shares his materials in a Facebook group Klarinet, klapka, hrajem!

In 2023, he published his first publication titled Zábavné stupnice.

Jean-Claude Madoni

A native of southwestern France, after earning first prizes in clarinet and chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM), Jean-Claude Madoni served as principal clarinet of the Orchestre National de Lorraine-Metz from 1977 to 2012.

Deeply committed to teaching, he pursued a parallel career as an educator and taught clarinet from 1994 to 2014 at the École de Musique à Rayonnement Intercommunal. In 1999, with the support of the music school, he founded the clarinet choir Souffle d’Ébène to bring together clarinetists from various institutions, including the Metz Regional Conservatory, and to promote his instrument, the clarinet.

In 2009, the Académie Nationale de Metz awarded him the Medal of Arts and Heritage Conservation in recognition of Souffle d’Ébène.
